Parish Communications Enabler

About the role

The Parish Communications Enabler supports churches and their leaders in sharing the Christian faith clearly, authentically and accessibly. Working within a diocese, the role builds long‑term communication capacity, shapes shared practices and connects parish insights to diocesan strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead a diocese‑wide approach to strengthen parish communications, providing toolkits, training and networks for clergy, wardens and volunteers.
• Deliver coaching, workshops and learning resources across social media, websites, video, photography and print, focusing on sustainable capability.
• Develop a coherent suite of templates, toolkits and guidance, and identify opportunities to standardise and automate recurring communications tasks.
• Manage budgets for resources and training in line with the Head of Communications’ priorities.
• Gather and analyse parish communication insights to inform diocesan strategy and advise senior leaders.
• Establish and sustain networks and communities of practice for peer learning and shared problem‑solving.
• Support the identification and shaping of ministry stories that communicate the Christian message effectively.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications or media within a faith‑based or community setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, volunteers and senior diocesan staff.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on capacity building and long‑term impact.
• Strong organisational skills and comfort managing modest budgets.
