Parking Appeals Officer – Hybrid (Full‑time Temporary)

About the role

The Parking Appeals Officer provides a responsive service to users of the council's parking system, handling a wide range of enquiries and appeals. Working 36 hours per week on a hybrid basis, the role combines desk‑based duties with occasional office attendance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage correspondence, appeals, permits, telephone calls, invoicing, refunds, complaints, court matters and bailiff interactions.
• Represent the client at adjudication hearings, seminars, benchmarking sessions and working groups.
• Report case statistics, win rates and system issues to the team leader.
• Suggest procedural improvements to enhance service delivery and efficiency.
• Assist the team leader with payment reconciliation, error tracing and resolution.
• Liaise with SMPP on financial matters and use the council's ledger for processing payments and refunds.
• Provide high‑level customer care as the first point of contact for complex and contentious parking cases.

Required profile

• Good working knowledge of parking appeals processes.
• Previous experience in the parking industry is essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet weekly hybrid attendance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail for data entry and financial reconciliation.
