Part Qualified Management Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a growing, privately‑owned business in Edinburgh seeking a Part‑Qualified Management Accountant. This hybrid, permanent role offers genuine ownership of finance responsibilities and the chance to work closely with the Senior Finance Manager while supporting a junior team member.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules across multiple entities.
• Own the month‑end process, including accruals, pre‑payments, journals and depreciation.
• Complete balance‑sheet and inter‑company reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Support cash‑flow forecasting, budgeting and financial forecasting.
• Analyse actual performance against budget and provide clear variance analysis and commentary.
• Assist with VAT returns, statutory accounts and audit requirements.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver accurate financial information and commercial insight.
• Review and support the work of an Assistant Accountant, maintaining strong financial controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and automation across the finance function.
• Contribute to wider finance projects, financial analysis and ad‑hoc commercial reporting.

Required profile

• Part‑Qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
• 2‑4+ years of relevant finance experience with strong management accounting exposure.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Good understanding of month‑end, reconciliations, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow and variance analysis.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Good knowledge of UK accounting principles and VAT.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage own workload.
• Strong communication skills with finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
• Proactive approach with interest in process improvement and automation.
• Experience supporting or reviewing junior finance team members is a plus.
