Part-Time 1:1 Tutor – Clacton

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic part‑time 1:1 tutors to work with children in care, pupils with special educational needs and those excluded from mainstream schooling in the Clacton‑on‑Sea area. The role involves delivering tailored tuition in Maths, English or Science during the school day, typically three hours per day, Monday‑Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one instruction to students across key stages 1‑5, focusing on core subjects.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of disengaged learners, including those with behavioural or SEN challenges.
• Deliver lessons in a variety of settings such as the pupil’s home, a care home or a local library.
• Monitor progress and report feedback to the coordinating team.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
• Motivated, positive attitude and ability to make learning enjoyable.
• Experience in education or working with students with SEMH or LAC is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Maths, English and Science curricula.

What we offer

• £25 per hour rate.
• Flexible part‑time schedule (up to 3 hours per day).
• Ongoing temporary contract with the possibility of extension.
