Part Time Accounts Assistant

About the role

This permanent part‑time position (24 hours per week) supports the finance team of a busy, fully office‑based business in Caterham. The role offers a flexible schedule and the chance to develop into a full‑time position as the business grows.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices and maintain the sales ledger.
• Perform general bookkeeping and ensure accurate financial records.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit‑card transactions.
• Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns.
• Assist with payroll and wage administration when required.
• Handle incoming telephone and email enquiries.
• File, scan and maintain confidential documents.
• Support year‑end accounts and audit processes.
• Provide general administrative support as needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accounts, finance or bookkeeping role.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial administration.
• Experience with accounting software (construction‑industry software beneficial but not essential).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
