Part-time Bookkeeper – £20.54/hr

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established business for a part‑time Bookkeeper. The role offers a stable, supportive environment with a chance to move into a permanent position after a temporary assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping processes.
• Complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns to HMRC.
• Manage sales ledger – raise invoices, post payments, monitor aged debtors.
• Process purchase ledger transactions and supplier payments.
• Prepare payroll information and pension contributions.
• Produce monthly profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash‑flow forecasts.
• Liaise with company leadership and external accountants.
• Support month‑end and year‑end accounting processes and other finance‑administrative duties.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a bookkeeping position.
• Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential).
• Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Good understanding of sales and purchase ledger processes.
• Experience supporting payroll administration.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage own workload.
• Confident communication and proactive approach.
