Part Time Fitness Instructor (Fitness Manager)

About the role

GLL is seeking a motivated Part‑time Fitness Instructor to lead the boutique fitness facility at Kendal Leisure Centre in Cumbria. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment while delivering high‑quality fitness classes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a positive image of the centre by providing friendly, professional service to customers.
• Assist customers with facility use and encourage maximum participation.
• Prepare areas and equipment for sessions and conduct regular safety and cleanliness checks.
• Supervise on‑shift staff, allocate tasks, and manage people‑management procedures such as recruitment, absences, appraisals and discipline.
• Support energy‑conservation and resource‑maximisation initiatives.
• Deliver fitness classes in line with the centre’s programme.

Required profile

• Minimum Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification (or willingness to obtain within the first two months).
• Previous experience in the boutique fitness market is highly desirable.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for building relationships with customers, colleagues and contractors.
