Part Time Payroll Assistant

About the role

This part‑time role offers an immediate impact within a lean, close‑knit finance team in Reading. You will support daily payroll operations while collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate data flow.

Key responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule, complying with UK regulations.
• Maintain employee payroll records, handling new starters, leavers and status changes.
• Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and pension contributions.
• Resolve payroll queries from staff promptly and professionally.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting and HMRC returns.
• Provide payroll documentation for audits and support the Accounting & Finance department as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payroll processing.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Effective communication skills for handling staff queries.
• Availability to start ASAP on a part‑time, interim basis (minimum 2‑3 months).
