Particle Scientist – Postdoctoral Role in Crystallisation

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Particle Scientist to join a 1‑year postdoctoral programme focused on crystallisation process development. The role offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge projects, optimise solvent selection and improve yield across multiple chemical routes.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate crystallisation mechanisms and generate fundamental insights.
• Scope and evaluate solvents to optimise productivity and address bottlenecks.
• Perform solubility and solvent screens using COSMO predictions and experimental data.
• Develop and refine crystallisation processes to maximise yield and purity.
• Determine crystallisation kinetics in 0.1‑1 L reactors with PAT monitoring (FBRM, Raman, immersion cell).
• Generate productivity estimates and evaluate PAT‑feedback crystallisation approaches.
• Assess filtration rates relative to crystal size and shape for downstream decisions.
• Collaborate with modelling teams to create predictive tools for process optimisation.
• Document findings and communicate results to project teams.

Required profile

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline with a focus on crystallisation.
• Strong knowledge of nucleation, growth, polymorphism and yield optimisation.
• Experience with PAT tools for crystallisation monitoring.
• Hands‑on laboratory experience at 100 mL‑1 L scale.
• Ability to work independently across multiple work packages and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent scientific communication and data‑analysis skills.
