About the role
Our client, a busy accountancy practice in Chester, is looking for a part‑time bookkeeper to support a diverse portfolio of clients. The role offers 16–24 flexible hours per week and a pro‑rated salary of £28,000‑£35,000. You will work within a supportive team and have the chance to develop professionally.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain bookkeeping records for multiple clients across various industries.
- Process purchase and sales invoices and perform bank and credit‑card reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Use cloud‑based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) to keep financial data up to date.
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and year‑end reporting.
- Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing support.
Required profile
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice (essential).
- Strong understanding of VAT and double‑entry bookkeeping.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines independently.
- Good communication and client‑relationship skills.
- AAT qualification or equivalent is advantageous.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Xero.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks.
- Proficiency with Sage.
