Part‑time Clinical / Counselling Psychologist

About the role

This part‑time Band 8a position provides specialist perinatal psychological support within the Thumbswood Mother and Baby Inpatient Unit. You will work with mothers experiencing severe mental health difficulties during pregnancy or up to two years post‑natal.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and formulate care plans for women and mother‑infant dyads.
• Deliver evidence‑based individual and group interventions, including CBT, ACT, EMDR and mindfulness programmes.
• Provide supervision and reflective practice for junior psychology staff and multidisciplinary team members.
• Contribute to service development, audit, teaching, and liaison with community, maternity and other health services.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS, or fully completed training as a Counselling Psychologist.
• Current full registration with the HCPC.
• Proven experience working with severe mental illness and perinatal populations, including complex conditions such as postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder.
