Part‑time Competent Firefighter (Control) – Fixed‑Term

About the role

Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a part‑time Competent Firefighter to join its Control Room on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work a rotating shift pattern of two day shifts and one night shift, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of fire control services across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and manage emergency calls and dispatch resources from the control room.
• Participate in conversion training to align with NFRS processes and procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a positive, inclusive organisational culture.
• Maintain effective relationships with colleagues, trade unions and external partners.

Required profile

• Current competent Fire Control operative at Firefighter level or higher.
• No outstanding unspent disciplinary warnings.
• Willingness to complete conversion training if coming from another fire service or after a career break.

Required skills

• Fire control operations knowledge.
• Ability to work shift patterns, including nights.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract for 12 months with a pro‑rated salary of £6,590.65 per annum.
