Part‑time Finance Officer – 20‑25 hrs/week (Guildford)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented Finance Officer to join our Finance Team on a permanent part‑time basis in Guildford. The role involves 20‑25 hours per week across 4‑5 days during term time plus an additional 4 weeks, totalling 43 weeks per year. You will help shape finance systems, improve processes and support robust financial management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead administration, development and improvement of finance, purchasing and budgeting systems.
• Provide expert support, guidance and training on finance systems and processes to colleagues.
• Maintain robust financial controls, compliance and data quality.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements through automation and process enhancements.
• Support financial reporting, analysis and month‑end / year‑end activities.
• Collaborate with budget holders to deliver high‑quality finance services.

Required profile

• Experience working in a finance, systems or data‑focused environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to non‑technical users.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (and broader Microsoft Office) skills.
