Part‑time Museum Educator (Schools) – Temporary Cover

About the role

The Fitzwilliam Museum is seeking a part‑time Museum Educator to deliver high‑quality, curriculum‑linked sessions for school‑age children and young people. This temporary, one‑year cover position involves facilitating learning experiences in the museum galleries, education spaces, and community settings across Cambridgeshire.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver facilitated sessions that connect museum collections to a wide range of curriculum subjects.
• Collaborate with teachers, education leaders, external artists and specialists to develop innovative learning activities.
• Use agreed methodologies to measure impact, evaluate outcomes and feed findings into continuous improvement.
• Prepare session materials, manage logistics and ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Contribute to the museum’s Learning and Public Programme pillars: Creating Opportunity, Society and Identity, Health and Wellbeing, and Identity.

Required profile

• Experience working with children and young people in educational or museum settings.
• Strong ability to communicate complex ideas through discussion‑based learning.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and equality, diversity and inclusion principles.
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
