Part‑time Optometrist – Boldon Colliery

About the role

ASDA Opticians is seeking a qualified Optometrist to join its Boldon Colliery store on a part‑time, permanent basis. You will work 16 hours per week, delivering high‑quality eye examinations and supporting the delivery of NHS‑funded eye‑care services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including contact lens and extended service assessments.
• Collaborate with the Dispensing Optician Manager to maintain departmental standards and provide coaching.
• Support NHS contracts by delivering monitoring and treatment for eye conditions.
• Participate in professional development and CPD programmes, including optional student supervision.
• Provide clinical advice and service support to store, regional and head‑office teams.

Required profile

• Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC) or equivalent.
• Commitment to delivering patient‑centred eye care in a retail environment.
• Willingness to undertake additional accreditations funded by ASDA.
• Ability to work the specified rotating shift pattern.

Required skills

• Proficiency in performing eye examinations and interpreting results.
• Knowledge of contact lens fitting and extended eye‑care services.
