About the role

Join Food Basics as a Produce Clerk and be the friendly face that keeps our fresh‑produce section vibrant and well‑stocked. You’ll work part‑time in a lively grocery environment, helping customers find the best fruits and vegetables while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Unload and sort incoming produce shipments in the backroom and cooler.
• Stock shelves and create attractive displays, rotating items using a first‑in‑first‑out method.
• Inspect produce for freshness, remove damaged items, and ensure all products meet store quality standards.
• Monitor temperature and humidity levels to preserve optimal storage conditions.
• Assist customers with product information, selection tips, and storage recommendations.
• Maintain a clean and organized produce area, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitising equipment.
• Perform inventory counts, restock as needed, and report low‑stock situations to management.
• Label produce with accurate pricing, update promotional signage, and handle price reductions.
• Follow food‑safety and sanitation guidelines, and report any safety concerns.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic about fresh food and comfortable working in a fast‑paced retail setting.
• Ability to lift and move produce shipments safely.
• Strong attention to detail for quality inspection and inventory accuracy.
• Excellent customer service skills and a helpful attitude.
• Willingness to adhere to union agreements and food‑safety protocols.
