Part‑Time Rail Freight Operative (Temporary)

About the role
This temporary, part‑time position is ideal for a reliable individual seeking a single day of work each week over the next three to four months. You will join a team that prepares rail freight vehicles for loading and unloading, ensuring safe and efficient freight movements.
Key responsibilities
- Open and close rail freight vehicle doors.
- Carry out basic walk‑around safety checks.
- Verify that carriage lighting is operational.
- Manually operate door latches and mechanisms when required.
- Support the safe and efficient movement of freight operations.
Required profile
- Fully mobile and physically fit.
- Comfortable working outdoors and around rail freight vehicles.
- Own safety footwear.
- Willingness to complete a Network Rail medical assessment and drug & alcohol screening before starting.
Required skills
What we offer
- £14.00 per hour (PAYE).
- PPE provided.
- Minimum of 8 paid hours per shift.
- Shift: Monday 06:00‑14:00 (earlier finish possible).
