About the role
This part‑time SENCO position (2‑3 days per week) is based in an outstanding primary school in Southwark, London. The role starts in September and offers a flexible schedule within the academic year.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Develop and maintain the school’s SEND policy and records.
- Prepare Education, Health and Care Plans and manage applications.
- Engage parents in their child’s learning, providing regular updates and annual reviews.
- Liaise with external agencies such as speech‑language therapists, educational psychologists and other specialists.
- Support teachers by creating Personal Learning Plans and delivering targeted training.
Required profile
- Qualified SENCo with a recognised SENCo qualification.
- Proven experience working in a primary school setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with head teacher, deputy head and teaching staff.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
- Experience preparing Education, Health and Care Plans.
- Familiarity with liaising with external SEND professionals.
