Part‑time Teaching Assistant – Year 6 (Primary School)

About the role

We are looking for a part‑time Teaching Assistant to join the Year 6 team at a welcoming primary school in Islington, London. You will support pupils across all classes, helping them understand tasks, stay focused, and make progress.

Key responsibilities

• Assist class teachers with preparing learning resources.
• Lead small‑group sessions in English, maths and reading.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils who need extra help.
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) during lessons.
• Help maintain a positive and focused classroom environment.

Required profile

• GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and maths.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Enthusiasm for supporting children’s learning and development.
• Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Proficiency in English language concepts.
• Solid understanding of basic maths concepts.
