Part‑time Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Lewisham

About the role

A friendly primary school in Lewisham is seeking a part‑time Year 5 Teaching Assistant to start in September. You will work 8:30 am‑1:00 pm, supporting a small group of pupils with Special Educational Needs, primarily Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role involves close collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and promote social, emotional and academic development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to Year 5 pupils with ASD.
• Deliver tailored learning activities and interventions under the guidance of the teacher and SENCO.
• Assist pupils with classroom routines, organisation and social interaction.
• Monitor progress and report observations to senior staff.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs and promote inclusion.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
• Patient, nurturing and proactive attitude.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and SENCO.
• Flexibility to follow the part‑time schedule (8:30 am‑1:00 pm).
