Pastoral and Safeguarding Worker – Designated Safeguarding Lead

About the role

The Designated Safeguarding Lead will ensure the safety and wellbeing of young people within a post‑16 specialist provider. Working across multiple bases in Kent, you will maintain robust safeguarding records and support the wider safeguarding team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date safeguarding records in line with statutory guidance.
• Manage and monitor CPOMS, collecting and analysing data as directed by senior leadership.
• Prepare case studies for vulnerable students and ensure proper filing of safeguarding files.
• Conduct risk assessments, schedule reviews, and oversee attendance records.
• Collaborate with the Director of Safeguarding to keep policies aligned with current legislation.
• Provide administrative support, organise meetings, case reviews and multi‑agency sessions, and keep secure minutes.
• Handle safeguarding correspondence, prepare audit evidence, and track staff training compliance.

Required profile

• Level 3 Safeguarding qualification.
• Experience working with young people and families with complex needs, including SEND.
• Proven ability to liaise with external agencies.
• Excellent communication, listening, and organisational skills.
• Experience in risk assessment and knowledge of KCSIE, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and related legislation.
• Willingness to undertake further training and commit to continuous professional development.
