Pastoral Manager – Secondary School

About the role

The school is seeking an experienced Pastoral Manager to join its dedicated pastoral team. The role starts immediately and continues on a long‑term basis from September, providing continuity for students throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pastoral support to a designated year group or key stage.
• Manage behaviour and attendance issues, delivering appropriate interventions.
• Collaborate with safeguarding, SEND and senior leadership teams to support vulnerable pupils.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
• Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and pastoral meetings.
• Promote an inclusive, supportive school environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience working within a secondary school pastoral, safeguarding or SEND team.
• Background in roles such as Head of Year, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Designated Safeguarding Lead, Behaviour Manager or Inclusion Manager.
• Thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and statutory guidance.
• Experience supporting young people with behavioural, emotional or additional needs.
