Pastoral Support Assistant – Secondary School

About the role

Join a vibrant secondary school in Waltham Forest as a Pastoral Support Assistant. You will work closely with students aged 11‑16, helping them stay engaged, safe and motivated throughout their school journey.

Key responsibilities

• Support student attendance and punctuality.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and staff.
• Deliver mentoring and wellbeing sessions.
• Promote positive behaviour across the school.
• Assist with safeguarding and other pastoral initiatives.
• Help students overcome barriers to learning and reintegrate after absences.
• Collaborate with teaching and pastoral teams to resolve issues affecting education.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑aged young people.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Empathy, patience and resilience.
• Confidence managing challenging situations.
• Proactive attitude towards student wellbeing.
• Previous experience in schools, youth work, mentoring or support services is advantageous.
