Pastoral Support Officer – Secondary School (Term‑time)

About the role

We are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in Greenwich to recruit a Pastoral Support Officer for the September‑December 2026 term. You will work closely with the Head of Year, SENCO and safeguarding team to ensure Year 8 and Year 9 pupils feel supported, safe and ready to learn.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day pastoral support to Year 8 and Year 9 students.
• Build positive relationships that promote good behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Address social, emotional and wellbeing needs and sign‑post additional help where required.
• Meet with parents, carers and external agencies to discuss student progress or concerns.
• Assist with behaviour monitoring, attendance tracking and record‑keeping.
• Contribute to whole‑school initiatives that support inclusion and student wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure consistent pastoral support across the year groups.

Required profile

• Experience working in a secondary school or comparable educational setting.
• Empathetic and patient approach with confidence communicating with young people.
• Strong organisational abilities and good written English.
