Patient Advisor – Front‑line Administrative Role

About the role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Patient Advisor to join the busy Administrative Team at Jedburgh Medical Practice. In this front‑facing position you will be the first point of contact for patients and external agencies, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate services in a courteous, efficient and professional manner.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service.
- Handle telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries from patients, secondary care providers and external agencies.
- Book appointments for GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants and physiotherapists.
- Issue repeat prescriptions in line with practice guidelines.
- Manage correspondence, scan letters onto patient records and maintain accurate clinical data entry.
- Copy and scan health records in accordance with GDPR and support filing, storage and archiving procedures.
- Use clinical systems such as EMIS and Docman on a daily basis while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Required profile
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised and able to work in a busy environment.
- Confident using IT systems and committed to data protection.
- Team‑player who follows established protocols and procedures.
Required skills
- Proficiency with EMIS clinical software.
- Experience using Docman document management system.
