Patient Booking Clerk

About the role

We are seeking a Patient Booking Clerk to join a busy healthcare environment in Basildon. This temporary position requires a highly organised, customer‑focused individual with prior medical administration experience. You will play a vital part in ensuring smooth patient flow through accurate appointment management.

Key responsibilities

• Book, reschedule and cancel patient appointments.
• Manage patient referrals and ensure precise data entry.
• Handle incoming telephone calls and email enquiries professionally.
• Maintain patient records in line with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
• Liaise with clinical teams, patients and external healthcare providers.
• Support the administration team with general office duties as needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a medical, healthcare, GP practice or hospital setting.
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
• Confidence working in a fast‑paced environment.
• Current and valid DBS certificate.
• Availability to start at short notice.
