Payroll Administrator – Hybrid Role in Newton Abbot

About the role

Join a modern, people‑first payroll team in Newton Abbot on a permanent, full‑time basis. This hybrid position (three days in the office, three days remote) offers a competitive salary and the chance to develop both technically and professionally while delivering accurate payroll services for a diverse client portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls using dedicated payroll software.
• Calculate income tax, National Insurance, pensions and other statutory deductions.
• Manage HMRC RTI submissions, pension processing and auto‑enrolment duties.
• Handle CIS submissions and support payroll‑related administration.
• Liaise with HMRC and respond confidently to payroll queries from clients and colleagues.
• Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date client payroll records and audit data for compliance.
• Support year‑end payroll processes and flag issues to the Payroll Manager.
• Complete daily timesheets and contribute to continuous process improvement.

Required profile

• CIPP qualification or a minimum of two years’ payroll experience.
• Experience using payroll software such as Sage 50.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Proactive, team‑focused attitude and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident communication skills and a professional, client‑focused mindset.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team.
