Payroll Advisor – Hybrid, Leeds

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Advisor to join our Leeds team. This hybrid role combines technical payroll expertise with problem‑solving, stakeholder interaction and continuous improvement, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the monthly payroll cycle from start to finish, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
• Act as the primary contact for a Defined Benefit Pension Scheme, managing contributions and liaising with providers.
• Process payroll changes including pay adjustments, tax and NI updates, sickness, contractual changes and employee claims.
• Produce payroll and pension reports, analysis and statutory returns.
• Collaborate with HR to deliver a seamless employee experience from onboarding to exit.
• Build and maintain relationships with pension providers, HMRC, auditors and payroll system partners.
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate processes.
• Stay ahead of legislative and regulatory changes and resolve complex payroll queries.

Required profile

• Proven payroll experience in a busy, complex environment.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax, NI and pensions.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proactive mindset with a desire to improve processes.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
