Payroll Executive – Payroll Specialist

About the role

This position offers an experienced Payroll Specialist the chance to join a busy, fast‑paced payroll team delivering accurate payroll services for internal stakeholders and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including starters, leavers, tax codes and statutory deductions.
• Handle payroll queries and resolve pay‑related issues.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pension requirements and payroll legislation.
• Process invoicing, payroll adjustments and reconciliations.
• Administer pension enrolments and submissions.
• Complete year‑end payroll activities, CIS returns and statutory reporting.
• Conduct payroll compliance checks and support audit requirements.
• Produce and reconcile financial reports, statements and customer account balances.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies across payroll and finance systems.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and statutory reporting.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Confident using payroll and finance systems with strong IT aptitude.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a customer‑service focus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
