Payroll & Finance Assistant

About the role

This position offers a blend of payroll processing and broader finance responsibilities within a supportive team in Leeds. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will spend one day each week handling payroll and the remaining time supporting the finance department across a range of accounting tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Process weekly and monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with legislation.
• Manage sales ledger activities, raise invoices and allocate receipts.
• Process purchase ledger invoices and supplier payments.
• Support credit control and customer account management.
• Process employee expenses.
• Perform bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist the Finance Director and team with ad‑hoc finance duties.

Required profile

• Previous experience processing weekly and monthly payroll (essential).
• Experience working within a finance or accounts environment.
• Knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger, credit control and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach and ability to work well as part of a team.
