Payroll Onboarding Consultant

About the role

We are looking for a Payroll Onboarding Consultant to join a forward‑thinking organisation in Manchester. You will be the main point of contact for clients transitioning to a new payroll system, ensuring a smooth, accurate and supportive experience from start to go‑live.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute payroll onboarding projects, meeting all milestones within agreed timelines.
• Act as the primary liaison for clients, answering queries, providing updates and building strong relationships.
• Validate onboarding data by reviewing static data, year‑to‑date balances and previous payment submissions.
• Explain the onboarding process through regular project sessions and update meetings.
• Complete data migration documentation and verify information during data gathering and loading.
• Support parallel runs to ensure results match those of previous payroll providers.
• Manage multiple onboarding projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks based on client needs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client information in line with company policies and industry standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in customer onboarding, preferably within payroll or finance.
• Hands‑on experience with data loads, reconciliations, parallel runs or go‑live authorisations.
• Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation and tax regulations.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage several projects at once.
