Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to join a successful business. This role offers the chance to apply a strong understanding of payroll processes while delivering accurate and timely payroll services.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly and weekly payroll accurately and efficiently.
• Manage starters, leavers, pay changes, deductions, bonuses and other adjustments.
• Calculate statutory payments such as sick pay and maternity pay.
• Ensure correct PAYE, National Insurance and pension contributions.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare payroll reports for internal teams.
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records.
• Respond to employee payroll queries professionally and promptly.
• Stay up to date with payroll legislation and regulations.
• Support year‑end payroll processes and reporting.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a payroll‑focused role.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll processes and legislation.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Good numerical and analytical abilities.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise a busy workload.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Payroll qualifications such as CIPP are desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Proficiency with payroll software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
