Payroll Specialist – Temporary (Leeds)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to join a thriving business in Leeds on an ongoing temporary basis. You will be responsible for processing payroll accurately, meeting statutory deadlines, and providing excellent client service.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate client records and update data in real‑time.
• Prepare payrolls with high accuracy and adhere to agreed timelines.
• Submit all required HMRC returns within statutory deadlines.
• Implement changes to tax codes and ensure compliance with HMRC legislation.
• Administer client pension schemes, apply changes, produce reports and meet submission deadlines.
• Conduct self‑checks of work prior to audit submission.
• Manage client expectations, communicate any deadline issues promptly, and keep the Payroll Manager informed.
• Perform year‑end activities, including distribution of P60 documents.
• Respond to internal and external queries, including those from HMRC, while upholding GDPR compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of payroll experience.
• Professional, organised approach with strong attention to detail.
• Effective time‑management and ability to prioritise workload.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong numeracy and customer‑service abilities.

Required skills

• Experience using iTrent payroll software.
