Payroll Supervisor (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead the day‑to‑day payroll operations for a diverse client portfolio. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you will ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery while mentoring junior staff and maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise preparation and processing of weekly, monthly and bi‑weekly payrolls for multiple clients.
• Review payrolls for accuracy and meet all deadlines.
• Oversee calculations for tax, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments and deductions.
• Submit HMRC RTI reports and manage CIS submissions.
• Ensure pension auto‑enrolment compliance and handle year‑end processes including P60s.
• Maintain payroll data across several systems, ensuring data integrity.
• Act as primary contact for clients, HMRC and third parties, resolving complex queries.
• Allocate workloads, prioritize tasks and implement quality‑control procedures.
• Coach and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payroll processing within a bureau or accountancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC RTI and CIS requirements.
• Ability to supervise a small team and provide technical guidance.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to client service.
