P&C Underwriter – New Business

About the role

We are seeking a Property & Casualty Underwriter to join our New Business team in Bristol. You will generate new P&C business, work within underwriting appetite and authority levels, and develop broker relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new P&C business in line with underwriting appetite and authority.
• Engage with brokers using a structured approach to maximise trading opportunities.
• Deliver against regional financial targets, including top‑line growth, profitability and expense management.
• Build and maintain long‑term relationships with key broker partners.
• Negotiate new business and retain existing accounts to achieve favourable outcomes.
• Share market trends and technical insights with the wider team.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as claims and surveyor teams to ensure seamless service.

Required profile

• Strong underwriting experience, preferably in commercial lines with a focus on new business development.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets.
• Ability to assess and price risk appropriately while balancing commercial opportunity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
• Well‑organised, structured and results‑driven in a fast‑paced environment.
