People Advisor – Part Time

About the role

We are seeking a Part‑Time People Advisor to join our client’s HR team in Melksham. Working closely with the Head of People, you will provide proactive, people‑focused support across the employee lifecycle in a fully office‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to managers on HR policies, procedures and UK employment legislation.
• Manage employee‑relations cases including absence, performance, conduct and grievances, escalating complex matters as needed.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, retention initiatives and off‑boarding.
• Partner with hiring managers to draft job descriptions, shortlist candidates and assist with interviews.
• Prepare contracts, amendments and other employment documentation.
• Maintain the HR Information System (HRIS) ensuring accurate, confidential and GDPR‑compliant records.
• Produce HR reports and people data to inform business KPIs and decision‑making.
• Coordinate learning and development activities and support the annual training plan.
• Assist with salary review processes, benchmarking and employee engagement initiatives.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a People Advisor or HR Advisor with strong employee‑relations exposure.
• Confident in advising managers on a wide range of HR matters and taking ownership of ER cases.
• Solid understanding of UK employment legislation and the full employee lifecycle.
• Proactive, approachable and solutions‑focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to balance business objectives with employee wellbeing.
