People and HR Generalist

About the role

Ember is scaling its electric bus network across Scotland and needs a People and HR Generalist to support the Operations team and the wider workforce. You will work closely with City Leads, providing guidance, structure and support for employee relations, compliance and people strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Support City Leads with day‑to‑day employee relations and broader people matters.
• Lead compliance checks and onboarding processes.
• Handle complex and sensitive employee relations cases.
• Manage continuous professional development for the team.
• Assist in developing scalable People and HR policies across multiple markets.
• Produce HR reports and metrics to inform business decisions.
• Support ongoing recruitment initiatives.
• Maintain a deep understanding of relevant employment law.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for climate impact or public transport.
• CIPD Level 5 qualification (highly desirable) or equivalent hands‑on HR experience.
• Demonstrable HR experience and/or qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented, highly organized and able to juggle competing priorities.
• Fast learner of new tech systems and comfortable using AI tools.
• Collaborative, empathetic attitude and strong relationship‑building skills.

What we offer

• Salary of £40,000‑£50,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
