People Operations Manager

About the role

The People Operations Manager will lead and optimise HR and payroll processes for a financial services organisation undergoing transformation. Based in London, the role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational expertise and a deep understanding of regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage end‑to‑end People Operations and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance.
• Oversee outsourced payroll via SD Worx, acting as internal subject‑matter expert and handling complex cases.
• Drive continuous improvement using the HiBob HRIS to streamline processes and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with SMCR, Employment Rights Act updates and other financial services regulations.
• Lead, develop and inspire a small team of two direct reports, fostering a high‑performing function.
• Provide insight, data and operational excellence to the wider People Team and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience across People Operations and payroll, preferably in financial services.
• Hands‑on payroll knowledge with confidence to manage end‑to‑end processes.
• Understanding of SMCR and upcoming Employment Rights Act changes.
• Experience managing a small team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with outsourced payroll, ideally using SD Worx.
• Proficiency with HiBob HRIS for process optimisation and reporting.
