People Relations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a People Relations Manager to join the People & Culture team of a well‑established, multi‑site organisation in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will act as the senior employee‑relations advisor, supporting leaders with complex disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters, and guiding organisational change initiatives such as redundancies and TUPE.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance cases.
• Support managers and stakeholders with complex employee‑relations investigations.
• Assist with organisational change projects, including redundancy and TUPE processes.
• Develop and maintain HR policies, guidance documents and manager toolkits.
• Lead industrial‑relations activity and engage with trade unions.
• Monitor changes in employment law and translate them into practical guidance.
• Manage ER risk, compliance and tribunal tracking.
• Deliver coaching and guidance to managers and HR colleagues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Employee Relations, HR Business Partner or HR Management roles.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice in ER.
• Experience handling complex cases, organisational change, redundancy and TUPE.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to develop clear HR policies and guidance.
• CIPD qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).
