Peripatetic Chef

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Chef who wants a balanced work‑life schedule while delivering fresh, high‑quality meals to our care homes across Peterborough, Cambridge, Luton, Hitchin and Spalding. The role is mobile, supporting several Barchester Healthcare sites and helping residents enjoy nutritious, seasonal food.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve fresh, seasonal meals across multiple care‑home locations.
• Manage kitchen operations, stock, and hygiene standards at each site.
• Travel between homes according to a planned rota, ensuring consistent food quality.
• Collaborate with care staff to meet residents’ dietary needs.
• Maintain accurate records of food preparation and waste.

Required profile

• Personable approach with a genuine interest in residents’ wellbeing.
• Good understanding of nutrition and experience with fresh seasonal produce.
• Relevant qualifications such as NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in catering.
• Current food hygiene certification.
• Strong kitchen management skills and confidence engaging with residents.
