Peripatetic Teacher of Brass

About the role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Peripatetic Music Teacher of Brass to develop students’ abilities by identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies that help them reach their full potential. This part‑time, zero‑hours position is based at Claremont School and reports to the Head of Creative Faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the Head of Creative Faculty to ensure lesson plans meet expectations.
• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging individual instrumental lessons.
• Teach small‑group music sessions, providing feedback and advice on performance.
• Research and implement innovative instrumental teaching practices.
• Prepare students for performances, examinations and auditions.
• Use music as a tool for personal and social development.
• Encourage participation in extracurricular performing‑arts activities.
• Act as a music role model, building trust with students, staff and parents.
• Participate in school concerts, events and assemblies as required.
• Contribute to whole‑school music events throughout the year.

Required profile

• Substantial peripatetic instrumental teaching experience.
• Performance experience (solo or ensemble).
• High level of personal skill and passion for music teaching and innovation.
• Interest in individualized lesson design and a determined attitude towards progress.
• Thorough knowledge of peripatetic instrumental teaching methods.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and a flexible, "can‑do" attitude.
