Personal Care Learning Support Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate Personal Care Learning Support Assistant to work with learners who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role blends classroom support with personal care duties, ensuring each learner can participate safely and with dignity.

Key responsibilities

• Assist learners during classroom, vocational and enrichment activities.
• Provide personal care such as toileting, continence support, changing and hygiene.
• Support eating, drinking and feeding programmes where required.
• Assist mobility using safe manual handling techniques and specialist equipment.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and medical protocols.
• Promote independence, confidence and social interaction.
• Record and report safeguarding, welfare or health concerns.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, healthcare professionals and families.

Required profile

• Experience supporting individuals with SEND, learning disabilities or care needs.
• Comfortable providing personal and intimate care with dignity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, caring and reliable approach.
• Understanding of safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.

Required skills

• Manual handling techniques.
