Personal Tax Manager

About the role

This position is for a Personal Tax Manager within a top‑50 firm, based in Watford. You will manage a private client portfolio, delivering self‑assessment tax returns and providing high‑level tax planning advice. The role offers a supportive environment with clear pathways for career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a private client portfolio, including preparation of self‑assessment tax returns and related advisory work.
• Provide tax planning advice on inheritance tax (IHT), capital gains tax (CGT) and trusts.
• Oversee junior team members to ensure delivery of portfolio work.
• Lead departmental initiatives, supervise training, and support team development.
• Maintain up‑to‑date tax department administration and handle routine tasks promptly.

Required profile

• ATT, CTA, ACCA or ACA qualified.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant tax experience.
• High professional standards and up‑to‑date technical knowledge.
• Effective people‑management, coaching and supervisory abilities.
• Strong communication skills to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Accurate documentation and initiative‑driven work approach.
