Personal Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Personal Tax & Compliance Manager to join a thriving accountancy practice in Chipping Sodbury. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of over 800 personal tax clients, delivering high‑quality, relationship‑led service and supporting the firm’s continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, ensuring all deadlines and compliance obligations are met.
• Prepare and review Self‑Assessment tax returns covering employment, investment, dividend, property and sole trader income.
• Prepare and review sole trader accounts and associated tax computations.
• Oversee VAT working papers and Making Tax Digital reporting requirements.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and flag potential risks.
• Support and mentor junior team members.
• Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and gather information.
• Develop and improve tax compliance processes.
• Collaborate with the Director to manage workflow and client service delivery.

Required profile

• CTA qualified, part‑qualified or currently studying towards CTA.
• ATT qualified or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in personal tax compliance and client management.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and drive process improvements.
• Strong communication skills and a client‑focused attitude.
