Pharmacy Assistant – NHS Trust

About the role

The Pharmacy Assistant will join a multidisciplinary pharmacy team delivering safe, effective, patient‑centred services across multiple Trust sites. Working under the Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will support medicines management, dispensing, stock control and administrative tasks in line with Trust policies and national legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with dispensing, ordering and distribution of medicines for inpatient, outpatient, community and clinic services.
• Maintain accurate stock records, support stock control and ensure timely supply of medicines.
• Provide technical support within the dispensary as required, following SOPs and Trust policies.
• Liaise with GP practices and community pharmacies under direction.
• Participate in departmental meetings, audits, governance and service‑improvement activities.
• Support training of pharmacy assistants, student technicians and other staff where appropriate.

Required profile

• Ability to work under supervision of senior pharmacy staff.
• Commitment to patient safety and adherence to SOPs and legislation.
• Good communication skills for interaction with pharmacists, technicians, nurses and external partners.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of medicines management and dispensing processes.
• Familiarity with stock control and ordering procedures.
