Physiotherapy Inpatient Team Lead

About the role

Springfield Hospital in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Physiotherapy Inpatient Team Lead to manage and develop its 24/7 inpatient physiotherapy service. You will combine hands‑on patient treatment with leadership of the inpatient team, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑focused care across orthopaedic, surgical and medical caseloads.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day operations of the inpatient physiotherapy service (08:00‑18:00, Monday‑Friday and weekends).
• Organise and deliver patient assessments, treatment plans, discharge planning and social‑care referrals.
• Manage the weekend roster and coordinate a seven‑day service with the MDT, consultants and external partners.
• Conduct clinical audits, use outcome measurement tools and drive service improvement.
• Report to the Physiotherapy Manager and ensure compliance with CQC and CSP standards.

Required profile

• HCPC and CSP registration.
• Proven experience in leading a physiotherapy team and managing employee relations.
• Strong knowledge of orthopaedic physiotherapy, respiratory care and discharge planning.
• Ability to organise workload independently and maintain judgement under pressure.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and understanding of private‑sector dynamics (advantageous).
