PIP2 Police Staff Investigator – Supervisor (Operation Warden)

About the role

Reed Talent Solutions are seeking an experienced PIP2 Police Staff Investigator to lead a team of investigators on Operation Warden, a high‑priority initiative tackling antisemitic and other hate‑crime offences. This 12‑month contract role combines hands‑on investigative oversight with leadership responsibilities, ensuring consistent, high‑quality investigations during periods of heightened demand.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day oversight of investigative standards across a team of PIP2 investigators.
• Allocate and manage workloads, ensuring timely case progression.
• Monitor performance, delivering coaching, guidance and professional development.
• Ensure compliance with PIP2 investigative standards, disclosure obligations and force policies.
• Act as liaison with senior leadership, partner agencies and the Crown Prosecution Service.
• Oversee investigations into hate crime and other priority offences, including complex cases.
• Maintain robust victim engagement and safeguarding practices.
• Review and quality‑assure case files, evidential strategies and decision‑making.

Required profile

• PIP2 accreditation (essential).
• Demonstrable experience supervising or mentoring investigators.
• Strong background managing serious and complex investigations.
• In‑depth knowledge of criminal‑justice procedures, disclosure and case‑file standards.
• Experience working with vulnerable victims and sensitive case types, preferably hate‑crime investigations.
• Proven ability to manage workloads and deliver under pressure.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

• Hourly rate of £26.38 plus holiday and benefits via Reed PAYE (umbrella rates also available).
