Pipefitter – Onsite (Glasgow)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join its on‑site team in Glasgow, working on high‑profile defence and shipbuilding projects. You will be responsible for fabricating, installing and maintaining pipework systems across a range of vessels and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install large‑ and small‑bore pipework using copper, cuni, carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Install utilities aboard ships, including sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components according to drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and adhere to safety regulations.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
• Previous experience as a Pipefitter or in a similar trade within an industrial or commercial environment.
