Pipefitter – Shipyard Installation (Glasgow)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Pipefitter to join its shipyard team in Glasgow. You will work on high‑profile defence projects, fabricating and installing pipework systems across a range of vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install small‑ and large‑bore pipework using copper, carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Install utilities aboard ships, including sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components according to drawings.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain accurate work records and adhere to safety regulations.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
