Planning Manager – Major Projects

About the role

Reed is partnering with Transport for London (TfL) to recruit an experienced Planning Manager for the Major Projects Directorate. The role supports the Project Management Unit by developing, maintaining and reporting on budget‑loaded project programmes and schedules, ensuring delivery of major infrastructure works across London’s transport network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage complex, multi‑project programmes and schedules to achieve business outcomes.
• Analyse project schedules, identify critical issues and support mitigation and recovery plans.
• Produce stakeholder‑facing programme reports, highlighting progress, risks, issues and impacts.
• Implement planning processes and procedures in line with project governance frameworks.
• Provide guidance, support and supervision to project planners and planning assistants.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with project management, contractors and key stakeholders.
• Deliver project controls training and assist senior management in interpreting schedule and cost reports.
• Review and improve planning processes, systems and methodologies to drive performance.
• Assess contractual programmes and compensation events, supporting schedule‑related commercial matters.
• Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture and support TfL’s commitment to equality, diversity and sustainability.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in planning and programme controls within major capital projects and programmes.
